Our Vineyards

We manage two vineyards, giving us a wide range of flavours and styles to play with from these very different sites.

Blomidon Estate Vineyard

The Blomidon Estate Vineyard is located on the shores of the Minas Basin, near Canning, in the Annapolis Valley.  Many of the blocks were planted in 1986, giving us some of the oldest vines in the province.  With 18 acres of vines spread over the 25 acre property, the site benefits from its close proximity to the water, as the tides and sea breezes moderate the temperature and help prevent disease.  The soils are sand and loam, offering excellent drainage and the gentle, south-facing slope provides for excellent sun exposure.  The Blomidon vineyard is planted with established Baco Noir, L’Acadie Blanc, Seyval Blanc and Chardonnay, with newer plantings of Riesling, New York Muscat and some experimental Vitis vinifera varieties.

Woodside Vineyard

Our 10 acre Woodside Road vineyard is located 8km from the winery, on the lower slopes of the North Mountain.  The soils are a reddish-clay, with basalt stones eroded from the North Mountain formation.  This nutrient rich site produces robust wines and is planted with reds, including Maréchal Foch, Luci Kuhlmann and Leon Millot, whites, such as L’Acadie Blanc, Seyval Blanc and New York Muscat, and our largest new plantings of Vitis vinifera, including the classic Champagne varietals: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
